In Doctor Brothers, we meet Kyoji Kato, a young man living in the long shadow of his older brother, Kyoichiro, a genius doctor who has taken over their late father’s legacy and is working overseas. Kyoji works part-time jobs, battling an unshakable inferiority complex as he watches his brother shine in the medical world. One fateful night his mother calls him with devastating news: Kyoichiro has died. Reeling from loss and confusion, Kyoji cleans his brother’s room and suffers a sudden seizure—only to awaken eleven years in the past. With the memories of his brother’s life and death haunting him, Kyoji watches his brother’s younger self confront the hospital director, Otomo, accusing him of murdering their father. Then another seizure brings Kyoji back to the present. But now he carries the weight of his brother’s memories and ambitions. Driven by grief, guilt and newfound purpose, Kyoji decides to become a doctor himself—not only to honour his brother but to expose the dark forces behind their father’s death and the medical institution’s corruption. As he navigates medical school, internship politics, life-or-death cases, and the dangerous world of hospital power play, Kyoji must reconcile the brilliance of his brother’s past with his own path toward redemption. The story blends gritty medical drama, revenge thriller, and time-regression fantasy, asking whether Kyoji can become the doctor his brother never fully was, and whether he will save more lives—or become consumed by vengeance.
